Christmas Lights

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. The Pawlak (and Foster) Christmas was low key this year. A few days before Christmas my family game over for dinner and then we went out looking at the local light displays. The Santa Clarita residents were very impressed by how we do lights here in the South Bay.
Christy and I at Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo.
My parents posing in front of the North Pole Airport house. Their favorite house on the block was the one with the train and the village (I knew they would love that one).

The Annual Outlet Christmas Party

God has blessed the Outlet this year in many ways. To celebrate the Christmas season we had the Outlet Christmas party at Adam and Angela's...it was a fun filled night as you can see from the photos...

Angela's amazing cranberry centerpiece.
These trees were used for the ornament exchange. My Outlet ornament was chosen by Adam and I know it will hang proudly on their tree for many years to come. I went home with a special Charlie Brown Christmas ornament and recites the verses in Luke announcing the birth of Jesus...it is very cute (thanks Beth and Rich!).
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." - Luke 2:8-12

The organizers...me, Shannon, Angela and Adam!

I was the ornament raffle girl. I added in a math lesson as I was calling out the numbers...for example instead of 12 I would say three times four!

Toward the end of the night a dance party broke out (okay I had something to do with it breaking out)...we moved the tables and the rest is history. I am happy to report that many learned the Electric Slide (my signature dance).

This was Shannon's final official event on the Outlet social team. I personally will miss planning Outlet events with her...yet Shanifer party planning is still in business...just in new ways. This is a group shot of the leadership team. We gave Shannon the serving tray as a thank you for her service...as it says on the plate..."Thanks for plugging us in!"

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mo!

John and Lauren "Mo" were married last Sunday evening. It was such a beautiful wedding. The reception was very "classy" and the dancin was awesome. Here is a group shot of John and Lauren and their Outlet friends.

These centerpieces were so amazing I thought they deserved to "make it out on the blog"!

Anglea, Shannon, and I "pre-dancing!"

Sheri, me, and Becky...again prior to taking to the dance floor!

Lots of love from the boys for John

And some of the boys showed their love again by decorating John's baby...I mean car.

Christmas Bunco!

Tonight was Christmas Bunco!!! Kristine was an awesome host...thank you thank you. Here are a few shots from the night. In January we start back up for the year...if anyone is interested in being a regularly scheduled player or a sub please let me know.

A nice group shot on the coach. We had a big group tonight...12 players we have not had that in over a year! Laurie is here for work and changed her flight today so she could come hangout and play some bunco!

Kelly was my secret bunco pal this year...tonight was the BIG REVEAL. This is the extra special gift she gave me...special kitchen tools that she knows I will put to good use. I love that we are like minded and we are both math department chairs in our district and love working together.

The queen for this year was Heidi with 17 Buncos for the year. Kim crowned her at the start of the night. I had the most losses for the year...

I am totally fine with being the "BIGGEST LOSER".

When it was time to award the money we had a few ties. We could have had a raffle or a roll off but no...instead we had an arm wrestling contest. Kristine is "freakishly strong". I am serious...my arm is still in pain...she took me down in a second. Frank was able to take her down...he was the only one!

Outlet Ornament

Saturday night is the annual Outlet Christmas party. This year we are doing an ornament exchange. This is a sneak peek at the ornament I (along with the help of Yvette...a former student and YL kid) made. I am so happy with how it turned out and am excited to see who gets to take it home tomorrow night...stay tuned!
I wish I would have made two so I could keep one!
I decided to make and ornament at Color Me Mine because I was inspired by two of my favorite Christmas tree decorations that were given to me as gifts over the past years...

Every year Christy, Michelle, and I have a ornament exchange. In 2003 Christy made me this extra special ornament...I think Michelle might have gotten the teacher one that same year.

This is the angel that hangs at the top of my tree each year. Melissa made this for me...I love it.

More Christmas Party Fun!

Two annual Christmas parties that I enjoy each year are the Outlet Women's Social and the Young Life Christmas Party...and this year they were back to back! Here are a few snapshots....

Nickki and I in our "couply - mathchy - mathcy" vests...love those.
Laurie and I have the exact same one...fun stuff...we always like the same clothes.
This is a group shot of the Sierra Sisters...that is what I named our small group back in September since we meet each week at my house. Diane and I are co-leading this group. I am so thankful that we have such a great group of girls.

Diane loves the "Yankee Swap" or as we on the west coast call it...the "you can steal gift exchange." Thank you Sheri and Becky for a fun night and to Nickki and Allison for opening up their home. The tree is very beautiful ladies...nice work!

This is a shot from the YL party. At the end of the night we sang carols in the garage with each person holding a candle. It was a really nice evening. I think we might have had 100 kids there...God is so good in the way he continues to bless the ministry.

More Christmas Weekend Fun

This weekend I continued to celebrate the Christmas season...
On Friday nigh Megan and Dave hosted a Christmas gathering.
This is a cute couch shot of Megan, me, and Maryn!

On Sunday a group of Outlet friends visited a YL friend of mine to do a special project. This is a shot of her using her Christmas Mickey Mouse as a tree topper (good stuff!).

The tree decorating team (+ Michael who was the great lighter stringing photographer).

This weekend was Journey to Bethlehem at my church (Journey of Faith). Here are some fun shots of the girls from my Bible study who were in the cast...it was so fun to see them in character. When I went tonight...the streets were filled with people!

Krista as a storyteller.

Maryn (from the first picture in this set)...was an angel (totally the role I would like to have...they look so cool up there!).

Christmas in the Gundo

Christmas has arrived in my apartment...here is the proof and some of the back story. I know it has been almost two weeks since my last entry...I apologize to my faithful blog readers...I will try to be better! There are some fun things coming up in the next few weeks so I will be certain to take photos for the blog!
The finished little tree that fits perfectly on the coffee table by my front window. I love how each one of my ornaments "have a story".
So here is the story of how I got this year's tree. Shannon and I started at the local tree lot in the Gundo. Unfortunately the trees were a little too big for my apt. Shannon was dressed up in her winter wear so we documented our stop at the tree lot with a photo. So we were off to Rite Aid to get one of the Charlie Brown trees (we knew they had good ones because we both got one there last year).

So last year...when we got the rite aid trees it was a bit of a challenge to get the tree cut and off of the wooden stand. This year was different....God is so good...He blessed me on Saturday night. When we went to Rite Aid the Svendsens and the Arnolds were there picking up some things. Erik offered to help me get my tree ready for its stand...he had a handy chain saw that was the perfect size for the job. Nicole...smiling proudly at her husband's handy work.

This chain saw might look like the "Fisher Price" version yet it worked great for the job at hand. Thanks Erik...you were a huge help!

Decking the halls!

And one more of the tree...I hope you all get to see it in person...I am excited to come home to lights on the tree...smell of Christmas in my apartment...and all of that good stuff.

Merry Christmas everyone...let us continue to celebrate the season remembering that God loves us so much that he sent his son Jesus to be born to die on the cross for our sins.

Thank you Lord!

Christams Party Fun!

Ellie and Stephanie had a "kick off" the season holiday party on Saturday.
We had cider, cookies, and games...what a way to celebrate!
The girls lounging on the couch.
Nickki and I...we took a matchy matchy photo with our green tops.
A little break in the mafia game...there are mixed opinions on the game.
Shannon and I with the "selfy" photo...always practicing those shots.
